Being too ill to pick up a pint of beer? All the sort of things that might actually get through the thick skulls out there and make them wake up ?
    Then there's the Archers. Shouldn't an opportunity be taken to kill off all the residents of Ambridge. Probably not - as assuming they mostly live in a rural area, they are perhaps less likely to have a problem.

      Is there a proper restart date yet - I have listened to the Everyday Story of Countryfolk for 65 or more years until the cut off of new episodes in Spring - of all programmes which could have been recorded by zoom or similar surely the Archers was relatively easy - but where there’s no will ....

        The “self self self” attitude is certainly rife. Especially among those who want us locked down and controlled until the impossible happens.
        There is a lot more happening out there than just covid. Collateral damage from the lockdowns just as one example.

          The risk of contagion is highest in indoor spaces but can be reduced by applying all available measures to combat infection via aerosols. Here is an overview of the likelihood of infection in three everyday scenarios, based on the safety measures used and the length of exposure

            Thanks, Bryn - a good résumé. I read recently another article (where?) which stressed the importances of aerosols rather than droplets. Some while ago 'they' were saying it was the 3 Vs: venue, ventilation, voice. To that could be added time.
            It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

              Early on during the pandemic, we were also being told that, the heavier the dose of virus, the more severe symptoms possibly suffered by the recipient, although we haven't been hearing as much of that of late.

                  Some interesting figures in here, quoted on BBC News whose health correspondent Nick Triggle is one of the few with what appears to be an enquiring mind.

                  Provisional death registration data for England and Wales, broken down by sex, age and country. Includes deaths due to COVID-19 and leading causes of death.

                  In particular section 6, which shows that Year to date this is the worst year for age - standardised mortality since 2009.

                  I don’t remember the health issues of the day in 2009, as it goes.

                      You STILL trolling me ?

                      The alternative is to actually discuss things. But you never want to do that.

                      Just the usual petty, personal attacks.

                          It's to be in the Mail, too. Ian Pace posted regarding it on FB, earlier.

                              Lockdown predicted to be announced tomorrow and start Wednesday. (Just now on BBC News channel.)

                                This article seems reasonable, and tries to explain the dynamics of aerosol transmission - https://english.elpais.com/society/2...h-the-air.html

                                Major factors seem to be:

                                * Shouting or exercising
                                * No or poor ventilation
                                * Length of exposure time

                                While aerosol transmission may be only one form of transmission, in indoor settings it does appear to be significant.
                                Mask wearing is not a guarantee that transmission and infection won’t occur, but does reduce the risk.
