The number of confirmed cases for people in the age range 15-19 suddenly doubled in the cases reported on 29th Sept and I suspect that increase is strongly connected with students returning to university (and school, perhaps).
Code:New cases in the Age Group: 15-19 Avg % of Cases Total Avg of the 7 days to 28/09 512 11.1% Avg of 4 days 29/09 to 02/20 1024 19.2%

Lewis and Harris is part of the Administrative Area "Na h-Eileanan Siar" (Outer Hebrides). There was just 1 case in w/e 20/09 and 7 cases in w/e 27/9.
[Later]
The percentage increase for "Na h-Eileanan Siar" shows as 608.1% rather than 600%. This is because the two case rates that were compared were each rounded to 1 decimal place. I'll correct that.
The percentage increases in the chart are still good enough for comparisons - but I will update the chart.
[Even Later]
Done.
Corrected the rounding issue and uploaded a new version. The map is unchanged but the percentages in the list are now correct and slightly different to the previous upload.Last edited by johnb; 03-10-20, 12:44.

In case anyone is wondering about yesterday's case figure of 12,872, the full "health warning" message on the Dashboard was:
Due to a technical issue, which has now been resolved, there has been a delay in publishing a number of COVID-19 cases to the dashboard in England. This means the total reported over the coming days will include some additional cases from the period between 24 September and 1 October, increasing the number of cases reported.
Anyway, the following compares the announced new cases for yesterday (Saturday 3rd Oct) by specimen date and those announced the previous Saturday, 26th Sept. You can see that the adjustment goes back earlier than the 24th Sept quoted in the "health warning".
This could be out by a considerable margin but I suspect the underlying "non-adjusted" cases would have been of the order of 7,500 to 8,000 (based on the 30th Sept and 1st Oct cases by specimen date).
My own "health warning": the cases by specimen date don't capture 100% of the "headline" cases by reported date, but charts are reasonably representative.Last edited by johnb; 04-10-20, 11:35.
