Haven’t followed this thread exhaustively but has anyone actually downloaded the “NHS” covid app?

I haven’t, and this redoubles my inclination not to:

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

well the Welsh have solved the problem - the serfs are limited to their shetels and cannot move outside - maybe internal passports will be the next fix by the DC-BJ pair of jokers - the Welsh will no doubt be happy with them as then no argument when the police inspect their papers.

I have, to a 'phone which I do not take with me when I do out. My main 'phone, which I carry with me, is too old to handle the app. Oh, and I live happily alone. There again, the administrative area in which I live has an infection rate of 20 per 100,000. The national average is 26 per 100,000.

I've not previously checked the rate in our area, but am pleased to discover that it's 8.

But this is surely one of if not the most important piece of info there is to be had ?
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

Just so long as one does not let it go to one's head and get careless.

There seems to be a correlation (though a very loose one) between cases/100k and population density. I guess you would expect that.

Sorry for yet another graphic. (I've used the same colours as before, to make the map easily to compare:

I did wonder about that but a little research suggests perhaps it's not that obvious? Take Northumberland. Lowest population density. Cases 140 per 100k. Then look at Herefordshire. Pretty similar population density. Cases 10 per 100k.

Thing is Northumberland is HUGE! But it has a concentration of towns on the East coast...Blyth etc..Cramlington...the rest of the county is empty. which distorts the density IMO. And, of course, there is the attraction of Party City on the doorstep.

I think that that article actually says very little and is pretty poor journalism.

The basic fact seems clear enough (which is really all I was interested in) ... or do you think it’s not the case?

Which is the basic fact ? That the police have been told not to download it ? Or that there is some undefined nebulous 'security risk' ?

Disappointing but no real reason given other than 'security concerns' which is pretty disgusting and feeds into the conspiracy brigade. As I said, poor and ill-researched journalism. What they should have said was that if anyone is concerned about this nebulous 'security risk'...which TBH is rollocks..then go to Github where the source code is available.

Have you checked and reverse engineered it to see what it's doing, then?

No I haven't but I bet others have and if there was anything untoward it would have been in the public domain by now.

I live in the pit heaps ..... we are locked down ..... this morning’s sofa round minister admitted she didn’t know the rules possibly because she doesn’t represent the pit heaps ..... enter stage left Bozza who increases the confusion/uncertainty exponentially ..... BUT he has now apologise for misspeaking ..... that’s alright then ...... we know we are treasured ....
