Indeed, but has there been any work on the comorbidity of Covid 19 and influenza? Can one have both at the same time? Maybe recovery from one will cause other complications, thus making the other more likely to cause additional problems if caught. Mostly the comorbidity seems to be related to heart disease, cancer, stroke etc.

Quite. Honestly I look over at what's going on in the UK and USA and I despair. At least the USA will (fingers crossed) have a change of government soon, but in the UK you have a government where both incompetence and venality are at such a pathological level that it's hard to work out which is which, and what's more they have another four years to make things even worse.

Is that true, or is it a plotline proposal for a 1950s-style Ealing comedy by the Bolton Brothers?

Hmm. Bolton, as referenced in the Dead Patriot sketch. What?

Latest overview update from the New Scientist - https://www.newscientist.com/article...success-story/

This presents a very varied picture. Actually it seems to be over a month old - but I suppose it's still relevant, in the absence of more up to date views.

Reading that article is depressing. How can people be so stupid ? I just wish that Covid could be a bit more selective.

Watched the 11am slot on the BBC today. All very worthy and erudite. Trouble is that the message was pitched at a level of IQ and education that means it won't be understood by those that really need to understand it and the implications of ignoring social-distancing etc. Maybe they should have Danny Dyer on all channels at peaktime viewing...every night for a month with the simple message "If you don't wear a mask when you should, if you don't keep 2m away from people, if you keep on going down the pub and getting pie-eyed, then you are going to die".
Fewer Smart things. More smart people.

Of course - the pet shop keeper's brother was lying!

The mention of 'conspiracy theories' in that piece reminds me that the Guardian reports the rise of QAnon in the UK. The old story of people believing what they want to hear and not believing what they don't want to hear.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Doubt it would make much difference. If folks want to behave in a certain way then they will, whatever they are told and whatever irrefutable evidence is stuck in their face.

Maybe. The balance of what is being reported, and not just the “ truth” of any particular story is very important.
And I think that the issues around health have been very well aired in the media, but the issues around restrictions on freedoms , current and possible future , haven’t been as well aired as they ought to, and when they have, have often been deliberately ( though not always incorrectly) conflated with the aims of certain far right groups.

I am a little surprised at the lack of response on this forum to the John Harris article today, FF, which doubtless you have read, and have interesting thoughts on.

Perhaps JH is paranoid, like me, though..........

But that would probably be lying - and the message should be - " .... if you keep on going down the pub and getting pie-eyed, then people you don't really give a .... about will die."

                              I posted a Covid-19 map in #3698 http://www.for3.org/forums/showthrea...921#post808921

If people are interested I could post updates daily/weekly/every few days, or upload to box.com with links here.

                              Any thoughts?

Don't want to overburden you, but I'm certainly happy with at least every few days. It is a running story.
