Well ... he recently led his party to its worst defeat since Heaven knows when. I may be a bit naive when it comes to politics, but isn't one of the main objectives of the leader of the opposition to win general elections and thereby become Prime Minister?
With the greatest respect to the Cambridge Labour Party, its view can hardly be considered objective, any more than an expression of support for Mrs May from its Tory counterparts would be.

Maybe because he failed to oppose the government on the most important issue of the time ?
      And lost.

If Corbyn was an effective leader I do wonder what an ineffective one looks like.

John Crace has remarked before how exposed Johnson's inadequacy shows up when he doesn't have squads of the payroll hoi palloi baying for the opposition's blood at PMQ.

And what do you know - Rees Mogg wants more live presence in the chamber....... (Crace has also described Hancock's body language as Boris makes yet another unachievable promise to reach an unattainable target (250,000 tests/day anyone)). Strangely though, MPs seems as reluctant as teachers to answer the call to return in person to Westminster. Well, those with any intelligence.

I think the people of Britain answered that one, on their doorsteps to canvassers for Labour and in their voting. I'm glad for those who have warm glow in their support for him, but, to put it mildly, it didn't get a party into power that would represent, and even act in, the interests of the mass of the "lacking in privilege" and disadvantaged people in this country.

No, but there are such things as statistics, which are objective and which appear in the link I provided.

Corbyn's chances were essentially sabotaged by Red Tories in Labour HQ. Read this:

I have now read my way through all 851 pages of the suppressed and leaked Labour Party report on its handling of anti-semitism complaints. It is an important document, that is fundamental to understanding a major turning point in UK history, where Northern European social democracy failed to re-establish itself in the UK. If whoever […]

I guess you could criticise him for naively thinking people in Labour wouldn't prefer the Tories - but there you go. I'm not and never was an uncritical admirer.

The Labour party failed because they were more interested in endless reruns of the whole "Peoples Front of Judea" sketch than actually forming a credible opposition.
Open goal ....... aaaaaaaand "let's all argue about the best fabric for the deckchairs"

but back to the wonderful way that the government are leading us all forward

Don't know what you're on about I'm afraid. Your opposition to my argument lacks credibility.

I think 'abstemious' is a good word.
                      So is 'fluorescent'.
Oh, sorry, you mean a good word about the government.
I'll get back to you (maybe) on that.

Moreover, LMcD, you say at last Labour has a leader who opposes the government, but at the same time saying the reason Corbyn wasn't good at doing that was because he never got into power... erm - what? Does this mean to say you can see into the future that Starmer gets Labour into power??

It's not as black and white an issue that you appear to think of it e.g. David Cameron and George Osbourne were/are pro-Europe. The EU crushed the left in Greece etc. etc. I say this as someone who voted to remain.

Living in the NW is wonderful, UNTIL you read stats and realise that 8 of the top 10 most disease affected areas are in Cumbria, Yorks, and NE...............why???
                                I am baffled.
