On the wider subject of this virus, it’s most worrying, if unsurprising, that this government seems set on a “smarter than the other guys” approach. If in a month’s time the hospitals can’t cope and there’s no full data on infection rates such as I imagine is needed to plan proper emergency provision, then I shudder to think what will happen at large.

      Invisible enemies are the scariest.
Keep that to yourself or there will be no vinegar on the shelves! It was one of the favoured deep cleaning agents of Aggie and Kim!

It's an ingredient of many (most?) glass/window cleaner sprays.

I was due to meet in London next weekend with friends from various parts of the country. Emails are being exchanged about a postponement. One friend writes that her husband, who has significant health issues, wants to get infected with Covid-19 as soon as he can so he can go into hospital while ICU beds are available and the hospitals are not overwhelmed. Interesting thinking....

Some more positive news for those who are staying indoors; both the Berlin Philharmonic and the Vienna State Opera are making their streaming services available for free for the rest of the month. The Vienna State Opera will be relaying recordings of a different opera every night, while the Digital Concert Halll archive will be open to all.

The whole theory of modern education is radically unsound. Fortunately in England, at any rate, education produces no effect whatsoever. If it did, it would prove a serious danger to the upper classes, and probably lead to acts of violence in Grosvenor Square."

Very true BUT there is no evidence that it is effective against Covid-19.

The hand gel I ordered a month ago, originally scheduled for delivery yesterday, then updated to next Wednesday, is now supposedly to be delivered on Monday. In preparation, I checked the ingredients, alcohol (cited as Ethanol) content is cited as 57.6%. Let's hope it scrapes in as effective.

Well the IoM is definitely preparing for the worst - "All staff will have personal protection equipment available to them suitable to their roles. Additional staff are also being trained in the operation of the crematorium." - quote from David Christian, the leader of Douglas Council who run the only Crematorium on the Island - no doubt accurate but probably unfortunately worded as no doubt it's worry over staff being absent.

Searching for information regarding current knowledge of the epidemiology of this disease I found this: https://www.thelancet.com/action/sho...2820%2930566-3 . I would guess it is being pretty widely read in the medical community.

It is a fairly early report but I feel sure it can offer significant data relating to the virus's management.
