I think we now have a new generic type - namely, a jenrick. We just have to fill out an accurate definition.

They seem to be doing the whole "move on" thing again.

For some people who had to watch their family members die via skype it's NOT for the likes of BJ and DC to tell them to "move on" FFS

One really deep and worrying problem long term is that our system seems to select these kind of people to make important decisions.
Cameron had the same pathological lack of empathy and these two are even worse.

We really need to stop giving folks with these personality traits power.... there are other ways as our friends in NZ will tell us

If they want the country to move on - easy: sack Cummings (and keep him out).

I'm thinking of writing a Jenrick-inspired limerick - any suggested rhymes?

I don’t think he’s worth the bother - looking back on his trip to Shropshire and Newark he’s probably the Cummings role-model - he should have gone, and I’m surprised he hasn’t kept his lip buttoned now - but then no I’m not surprised he’s obviously in the ‘doesn’t apply to me’ category.

Seems there’s another petition to support Emily Maitlis, who has been moved off Newsnight, possibly because she “upset” some people in government. The BBC should maintain good standards of reporting in, but should not be subject to dubIous political pressure.

However, it is possible that she hasn’t actually been taken off that particular programme.

Emily Maitlis: I asked for night off from BBC's Newsnight https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-52830437

We will have to wait and see.

Suffice to say he is unequivocal in his view that Cummings should go - the Rose Garden press conference did not impress apparently. He is still a Tory career politician, but is beginning to take more risks it seems. He had a severe knockback in the aftermath of the December election and I think is perhaps not averse to a bit of contrary behaviour now. In the general scheme of things I take it as a positive.
I had a thoughtful round robin reply from my MP, though not a rebel (new MP in super-safe Tory seat) who reported receiving 'several hundred' emails on the subject.

The Guardian now reports 61 MPs who have either called for DC to go, or criticised the Government's response. This is getting close to the Tory majority and if the country doesn't 'move on' from this before parilament resumes, there is further embarassment (at the least) ahead.

I don't think that's true... she 'took the night off'.

At the end of last night's Newsnight they said she would be back tonight.

Indeed - that does now seem to be the situation. I amended msg 276 very soon after I first posted it.

Actually I heard them say "Emma" would be presenting tonight. Presumably Emma Barnet.

(Insider comment in Murdoch owned BBC rival The Times article today "not the for the first time" in the case of Emily Maitless).

At last the party faithful comment posters on The Times online have something to crow about - all they've been able to do so far is mention Kinnock's infraction and a couple of other labour MPs. There's been a shortage of hate figures for them hitherto against a deluge of posters putting them right about what 70% of the population think. And the facts - as opposed to Jenrick's fantasy world.

Shocking press conference yet again, full of dissemblance, suppression, and distraction from dissent or questioning...
Oh those poor intimidated medic and scientific advisers....! How will they be feeling now?

And in the light of the Emily Maitliss censure..... oh god I hope she's back next week, not that Barnett or Razzall exactly go easy on their subjects, thank goodness....
