    With the Cummings/Johnson/Javid/Resignation/Advisers/yespeople thing.....

Just give it time..... hubris will take its revenge....

We and many others might suffer for it too, short/medium term....... but enjoy it nonetheless.... stay strong!

I am reminded of Lenin's 'Testament', with the two-headed monster of Cummings/Johnson in the position of Stalin. I hesitate to identify Javid too closely with Lenin's opinion of Trotsky, however.

I'm not sure whether the inspiration for this concentration of power has been Donald Trump or Francis Urquhart.

As I said elsewhere, might be the closest we get to an effective Opposition voice.

              Cummings ist der Diktator?...

Just can't quite see him running Europe at the moment but I suppose one should give him time to adjust...

First past the post gave him that, with a minority of the votes cast.

Cummings (as the Evil Manipulator) is extremely useful to Boris Johnson.

I'm reminded of Eddie Mair's question to Johnson during a TV interview some years ago "You're a nasty piece of work, aren't you?"

....we're building a wall my friends....and Swindon will be an enclave of the North but in the South fought over for the next 1000 years....the capital of Ultima Thule will be Durham where a few ex Southern idealogues have evolved and mutated into inteeligent Banchees when they have been stuck up North at Uni, because the Northern link HS2 to the South was never built and ended up as a box siding at Thirsk....and I've cornered the market in woad...."Onward dear friends and we will drink the blood of Tapas served off the hardwood of Weatherspoons platters"....

I’ve always thought this smacked of desperation by Mair. Of course Johnson is a thug. It’s entirely part of the schtick. Anyone who’s ever known an apparently bumbling public schoolboy will be familiar with it. What’s of note is that people need to be told, or that Mair and his ilk feel the need to tell people, as if they’re too stupid to figure it out for themselves.
The correlative at the other end of the spectrum by the way is the “cheeky chappie”, someone so obviously grifting that their apparent bonhomie should be no disguise to the fact they’re about to have your leg off.
I’m afraid we have the government we deserve. If you don’t like these crooks, vote them out or get onto the streets with your fellow man until changes are made. Absent that we’re powerless.

In this case - I WOULD SAY 'YES'!

I don't consider I deserve it. And for many of us the FPTP means voting has zero effect other than the futile satisfaction of knowing we have registered a vote against 'these crooks'. It is bad enough to be caught in the fall-out from bad decisions I never supported, without being held responsible for them as well.
