    Dominic Cummings

The lowdown on the man who's really running the country:

The long read: He is now the country’s de facto project manager, but what does he actually believe? In a bid to find out, I read (almost) everything Cummings has written in the last decade

Had already seen / sent this to several friends.
Serious. We are NOT being governed by our elected reps.

The person who wrote this - https://dominiccummings.files.wordpr...on-2-final.pdf is extremely bright and talented, or so it would appear.

I'm not against someone that bright running the country, though being very intelligent does not by iteself imply moral or other competencies.

Leaving aside the minor point that he’s unelected?

So you'd really rather have the person, or people who were elected "running" things!

Those elected should be making the decisions. But in this instance, it appears that this unelected bureaucrat is telling the government what to do.

Well, I’d far rather others had been elected. Historically of course the Executive relied on the civil service to.. execute its policies. It didn’t employ its own.....executors...

Rasputin was an unelected bureacurat, wasn't he!

The two have much in common. Ditto Bannon.

Which is why I've taken to referring to PM Johnson-Cummings. There is of course also the small irony of an unelected person wielding so much power...

Allegedly Cummings told HMG to scrap HS2, but that's probably not going to happen. So that would be an example where the unelected person did not exercise power.
