Had anyone heard this series on Radio 4 this week? Some episodes have (in my opinion) been better than others, eg the USA one seemed heavily tilted towards pop-culture. However the final one from Poland was absolutely terrific. It shed a new light on the Polish people and their troubled recent history. And if one wants an insight into how the EU...not to mention Brexit....is seen by others, do listen to at least the last 10 minutes.

There have been other imperial powers - Spain, Turkey - but they don’t seem to suffer from the same ‘perception obsession’ as the British.
