For the avoidance of doubt, John Redwood is a very rich man, and I guess he is/ was mainly focussed on increasing his wealth (god bless him):

John Redwood (Conservative): Income £196,097.19, mainly from board roles

    Constituency: Wokingham

    Income sources:

    • Member of the Advisory Board of EPIC Private Equity.

    • Chairman of Investment Committee of Charles Stanley, an investment bank and stockbrokers.

    • Newspaper articles.

    • Public speaking appearances.

The other aspect of this could just be that he began life in a council house. The Prime Minister is supposed to be all about social mobility. Whatever you think of her and life as it is, that is how she sees it. Either very successful people of ordinary origins go into business and/or academic life or "culture". An example of the latter is Twiggy who was also given an award.

An income of 196k hardly makes one rich. He wouldn't even get in the top ten in this forum on that income!!!

Have you been attacking the sherry a little early this year? I don't think the "top ten" combined reaches £196K.

Oh, come on. Some here get more than that as their pension alone, surely?

So that’s you can afford to lose CDs in your collection and then replace them with high res downloads.

I retired 7 years ago and six-figure salaries are a thing of the past! I'm a poor pensioner. I shop in Morrisons late at night to get the final reductions and I steam off the stamps from my received letters. I rely on Mathius Broucek for my download bargains.

They are very quiet modest and professional about it, but they are there
