I found this not too long ago, while cross checking a(n) (mis)attribution:

“We are all here on earth to help others: what on earth the others are here for, I don't know.”
    ― W.H. Auden

It might be relevant to this thread.

There are other interesting snippets at https://www.goodreads.com/author/quo...H_Auden?page=2

Yes - thanks Dave. I have now read all the quotes there and think a lot of them are rather good.

I was reminded today how I feel music connects people more than people connect people.

Also aware that it isn't quite how many or even most people feel, nor is it what I'd have chosen.

I have managed to avoid all that and more by being a foriner but when I needed help, it came before I realised I needed it. This feels a good community to me if it can be called that.

So, for you SA, actually worse than female tattoos??

[Which is to say, more precisely, very visible tattoos on women.]
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

The only reason we have a 14th century village church and not a light industrial unit dating from that time or that our next door village has a pub is because of Community, in these two examples village communities. Presumably this is not what the thread was getting at.

That is indeed a misattribution: http://audensociety.org/vivianfoster.html

Something I find mildly amusing is an OP with this title addressing itself to what can only be described as a community.

I haven't ventured to comment yet as I haven't worked out what it means
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.
