They do pretty good subscription deals if you shop around for their offers. A friend and I alternate annual subscriptions, so one year I get the main sub and she gets a free gift sub, then vice versa. Plus we both get all the archive. I only really want it for the political and economic stuff, but the book reviews are usually good and the letters page is often unconsciously funny. Serious arguments over the colour of the leaves outside Pasternak's house in autumn a "favourite"!
