    British Attitudes to International Affairs

an interesting survey by Chatham House showing some divergences between Opinion Formers and the Public: the Public being more in favour of border controls and eurosceptic whilst the OF are pro Eu and favour trade building as top international priority for UK .... interesting the support for UK to act as a great power has increased in both groups since 2012

    and:
Opinion-formers overwhelmingly think the BBC World Service is the UK’s top foreign policy tool. When presented with a list of different foreign policy ‘assets’, 68% of opinion-formers think it does the most to serve the UK’s interests around the world. This is far ahead of the country’s diplomats in second place (38%) and its membership of the EU in third (37%).
one might add that the contribution of R3 to the international standing of the UK is hardly acknowledged but may well be very significant among foreign elites ....
According to the best estimates of astronomers there are at least one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe.

Sorry to be thick, Jazbo, but who exactly are the Opinion Formers?

(The print, as it comes up on your link, is too small for me to read.)

Well, possibly, except that the internet offerings by other radio groups is at least impressive in terms of MUSIC. Where R3 scores - or should - is of course in terms of drama, critical evaluation and debate.

The latter seems to have been irretrievably siphoned off to R4, and in purely UK terms, the drama so late in t he evening etcetc. BUT for world listeners, the time of day it is aired in UK matters not, of course.

polling two groups: a representative sample of the general public, and a panel of ‘opinion-formers’ – leaders drawn from the worlds of business, media, politics,
        academia, science and the arts.
