Two weeks running! I'm ever the eternal optimist (rose tinted specs and all.)

Perhaps they've started A-levels or College?

I wouldn't be too hopeful - the entry in this week's Radio Times for Saturday's 'Happy Harmonies' (in the Friday listing owing to the RT's tenuous grip on the workings of the calendar) states: "From next week the series is on hiatus for a short break." So the world will hear from them again ....... [I think the statement might be one for Pedants' Paradise.]

Thanks Andrew - not good news, but even a short break would be very welcome.

(In these PC times, is CL / FM allowed? Or even Dr Chou En Ginsberg, MA (Failed)?)

Unfortunately it would appear to be a new figure of speech - or ignorant bit of jargon depending on your view...
to cease being broadcast for a period of time… See the full definition

            Perfect timing oddoneout.
After 9 months of drivel, I can now trot out a "pregnant pause" pun (in dubious taste).

I'm sure I've no idea to what you are referring

I've just seen next week's RT, and can confirm that it shows TtN back to 6 hours on Friday 24th / Saturday 25th

... or just pure gibberish. (I was going to make a 'joke' about the break being spent on holiday on an island called hiatus, but thought better of it.)

I suppose the next thing to purge is the 07:00 to 09:00 Saturday morning slot.

That would create a gap, and given the way things go these days that is almost certainly not preferable to what is on at present. Would some form of dumbtime really be better, as that would probably be the outcome? Not least as it would completely remove listeners - few as they may be, I don't know - rather than just having not very many, and again I don't think that's the way to go, even if R3 management seem to want it.

With the current direction of R3 management with its crusade/mission to popularise the station, any significant changes to the schedule are likely to be viewed as 'worse' by some. The problem is, it is always the same segment of the audience which regards the changes as worse/dumbing down because no changes have been aimed at satisfying that segment now for - literally - decades.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

My point is that that it’s already dumb time, and could be remedied by finding a better presenter.

There is as yet quite a bit of clear space between EA's Saturday morning and what I have heard of dumbtime. A different presenter might improve matters; I don't think it's a case of "better" so much as "better suited to R3"?

Here's what we missed from today's TTN:

Sadly, the listing for 16/10/2021 is back to 4 hours. So, it looks to be 3 weeks of TTN and then back to the drivel.
Andrew Slater was right about the hiatus.
