My dad had an Armstrong Sidley, among his array of unusual vehicles bought at Southampton car auction.
We went camping in it , to Scotland.. I think it did about 5 to the gallon,as most days were spent seeking out the next highland garage for petrol.

It certainly had a cigar lighter.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

I am not a number, I am a free man.

The British pound - well, time's not forgotten it yet, but if the r*f*r*n**m goes into outage mode, it might well do so given time...

For the discerning Mafioso - take your contracts to their final destination safe in the knowledge that they can help themselves to their last Hoyo De Monterrey without having to interrupt your driving.

Actually the one in the boot .... (I can hear vinteuil sharpening his virtual pencil) ... is used mainly to plug in the small refrigerator that can be slotted in, for cold drinks, picnics and so forth.

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments

Sad specimen that I am, I've just popped out to look in my car (it's started to rain, by the way) to see if there's a cigarette lighter - and lo! There is! It's been waiting there, feeling neglected, for the past eight years.

Nothing original I fear but I miss little blue paper bags of salt in plain crisps.

Are plain crisps still called 'Ready Salted'?

... sounds an excellent idea to me : I'm quite envious. Have to see when we replace the jalopy whether such a thing might be feasible for us.

The only use mine gets is for plugging in the satnav.

Yes but the Deltics were not as fine a sight as the Gresley A3 and A4s they replaced.

Indeed! I am tempted to get up early tomorrow to see Flying Scotsman leave King's Cross.

If the cold dissuades you, ITV's 'Good Morning' programme is apparently live on the FS from 6am, starting at King's Cross and then apparently travelling on the train.

What time is the departure scheduled for?
