    Bit of a Beecham evening:
    Scherezade
    Messiah excerpts
    Brigg Fair
The performances are all you could wish for and the EMI recordings are very good indeed.

Sir Tom Allen singing Hugo Wolf (Virgin Classics twofer paired with a Brahms recital). He's a bit high for me to sing along with (Hans Hotter is my perfect duet partner) but still very pleasing.

Though were she in earshot, Mrs MartinePecheur would probably feel 'non-singalong' to be a considerable advantage of Sir Tom's disc
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

Ye it was brassbander, so second hand on amazon is rediculous for just one piece!

Just booked for this in Birmingham in June so thought I'd spend an evening listening to it:

                    Wagner: Das Rheingold
                    Karl Bohm

                            Mahler: Symphony No 8
                            BBCSSO/Runnicles

                            BBCMM CD

Not as good as I'd hoped. Recording level is too low necessitating a hefty lift of the volume control and therefore robbing the performance of impact. Soloists are too distantly recorded.
